Berthlyne Francois

M.S. CCC-SLP

Berthlyne is a New Yorker – born and raised (Brooklyn/Queens). After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology at Buffalo State College, she spent a year in a post baccalaureate program for communication sciences and disorders at New Paltz University and worked full time for a nonprofit organization servicing individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental illness and traumatic brain injury. Soon after completing her post baccalaureate program, Berthlyne decided to pack her belongings and move from the big apple to Louisiana to start her masters program and continue her journey to becoming a Speech Language Pathologist. After graduating with her masters, she picked up a contract as a travel SLP in California and started off her career as a clinical fellow speech language pathologist with the Los Angeles Unified School District, servicing students in preschool, primary school, and middle school. She also has experience providing services via telehealth. Although she adored all her kids, she decided to transition to another setting to further hone her skills as a clinician and serve an even larger population.

Berthlyne enjoys helping others and loves children! She has set out to love, nurture, and educate children from the very beginning. These are some of the reasons that led her to pursue a career in Speech Language Pathology and are why her therapy is not only clinician centered, but child centered. Berthlyne believes it is important to follow a child’s lead as it allows for strong interactions to be built and creates an environment essential for implementing therapy to address the child’s needs. She also strongly believes in caregiver education as it helps create a strong knowledgeable team important for aiding a child flourish.

During her down time, Berthlyne enjoys watching scary movies, mystery, and detective shows, and listening to music. She also enjoys spending time with her family which is the one con about living so far from them. Nonetheless, she is excited to be continuing her journey as an SLP and looks to acquire additional certifications and trainings that will aid in her being a well-rounded clinician.
